Toyota Camry 2010 Review and photos

MSRP
$19,395 - $29,045

The 2010 Camry is a 4-door, 5-passenger family sedan, available in 10 trims, ranging from the Camry-Grade 6-Spd MT to the XLE V6 6-Spd AT.

Upon introduction, the Camry-Grade 6-Spd MT is equipped with a standard 2.5-liter, I4, 169-horsepower engine that achieves 22-mpg in the city and 33-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive is standard. The XLE V6 6-Spd AT is equipped with a standard 3.5-liter, V6, 268-horsepower engine that achieves 19-mpg in the city and 28-mpg on the highway. A 6-speed automatic transmission with overdrive is standard.

A 169-horsepower 2.5-liter inline-4 is the base engine, and the SE receives a 179-hp version of the same engine. A powerful 3.5-liter V6 (268 hp, 248 pound-feet of torque) is available on all trims except the base model. Transmission choices for the four are a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic (standard on XLE), while the V6 sends its power through a standard six-speed automatic. A gas-electric hybrid Camry is also available and, along with 192 hp, it offers EPA estimates of 33 mpg city and 34 mpg highway.

On the road, it's more than capable. Power on demand moves this big mid-size with a quiet purr. It's probably the only Camry trim that can be mistaken for a "drivers' car", letting you leave rubber on the road if you ask. The steering is meaty and precise. Select shift is standard, letting you set your gear limits, but the AT has sufficed for me. The suspension is tighter than the standard Camry, which has always sort of floated over the road. This ride transmits the feel of the road to the driver, and it absorbs shocks more quickly. There is less body roll in tight turns.
